THREE SPECIAL GIFTS:

Your Majesties, Balthazar, Gaspar, & Melchior,
You´ve answered letters from boys & girls everywhere,
You´ve brought toys, sweets, love & treats, knocked on every door.
But, two little boys, & one little girl, you have forgotten somewhere.

The little girl, who asked you, not for a doll, nor a rattle,
She asked, as a child of war, to stop the bombs, to cease the battle.
Her Daddy shot from her arms,
Her Mummy, clinging to hope, with scarred, aching palms, painful life.
She only asks for peace, not for strife.

The little boy in a hospital bed,
He asked for life, not a gun, nor a drum.-
"No more than  six months," said the doctors to his mum.
As pale as snow, as young as Spring.
He asked to live; did his letter go missing?

Finally; what happened to his card?
Little skeleton with eyes of stars,
He pleaded silently, desperately, not for a toy, no car , no train,
Just a piece of bread, just a tiny little grain.
This little boy of drought just asked you for a drop of rain.

If they are not here, there will be three more,
There are always three, in hunger, in pain, in war.
So please, next year, don´t forget, your Majesties,
Balthazar, Gaspar & Melchior,
To knock upon just three more doors.

I know the price of gifts today is dear,
I know the world is wide & far,
But it´s worth the price of just one dried tear.
Please your Majesties restore children’s faith once more, You three wise kings, Balthazar, Gaspar & Melchior.
