AFRICAN FRAGRANCES:

Africa; fragrances, odours, it smells & reeks,
Of Slathered sweat on dusky skin,
Of Kalahari  blooms that ooze & leak,
Of Aromas too rich to not be a sin,
Of dew stroked feather & feral fur,
Of bloody hunt & nocturnal feast,
Of dried cracked pod, seed, thorn & burr,
Of un-cried tears of man & beast,
Of wild herbs & acrid trees,
Of first scarce raindrops on ancient dust,
Of silty rivers & scented breeze,
Of mystic tears of the elephant´s musth,
I close tired eyes & breathe in deep,
Inhaling dancing days & long-gone tunes,
Falling into oblivion far & steep,
Sinking into urns of African perfumes.
