THE MOON & THE SUNFLOWER:

Silver moon, friend of God,
Lover of the sky,
Night-light of the vagabond,
Creamy, solitary, high,
Gown of pearly rivers, slipper of murky sod.

If you are of silver,
So-called faithful friend,
Light of tired hungry man,
Why orb of honey do you lend,
To me, eyes of grey that make me freeze & quiver?

The sea you kiss with lips of power,
Fields you caress with wheat of gold,
To the mountain, you serenade with tears of joy,
Everyone but me, young & old,
You love everyone but me, the solitary sunflower.
