MY LITTLE ONE:

Where do you go to my little one?
At night when you’re in your sleepy-time dreams,
Beneath the sun, moon & the strumming of streams.

Where do you go to my little one?
When you’re at school, at play & with your friends,
By the river bank where otters play & the old oak bends.

Where do you go to my little one?
When you´re off to better yourself & new studies to learn,
To spread your wings in new world & have your head turned.

Where do you go to my little one?
When away you go, with the one & only great love of your life,
The pretty young maid, whom one day shall agree to be your wife.

Where do you go to my little one?
When you go off to play again, but this time with babes of your own,
But you still are my little one, even though now you´ve up & grown.

Where do you go to my little one?
Now that I am old crone, in my rocking chair memories & fading grey,
I ask myself, “Is it really that long ago since you left my side & went away?”
