LISTENING TO THE SILENCE:

I´ve sat with many silent friends & all have taught me much,

The mountains in their solitude, showed me how to be,

The rivers told me secrets that they sent with love to sea,

The oceans roared with tides that told of far-off places,

The open plains showed me their kind & welcome faces.

 

I´ve sat with many silent friends & all have taught me much,

The trees lulled me softly, with their sighing & their humming,

The dunes of deserts serenaded in their singing & their sunning,

The grasses whispered watered secrets to my heart & heavy soul,

The forests, in their moaning & green sighings, made me whole.

 

I´ve sat with many silent friends & all have taught me much,

I have been taught, that silence is a good & faithful friend,

I have been taught, that quiet is needed to heal & mend,

I have been taught, that I do not ever need much more,

I have been taught by my friends, “silence is unspoken lore”.
