LISTEN TO THE SAND:

Sitting silently under the warm,
Listen to the sand, shifting from dusk to dawn,
Hear it sing, hear it smile,
Every grain, mile upon mile.

Whispering beneath moon-spattered black,
Listen to the sand, obliterating track,
Hear it weep as it hears our plan,
Every grain, for the futility of man.

Moist below mossy depths of forest green,
Listen to the sand caressing deep roots unseen,
Hear it touch so gently, listen to its plea,
Kissing every grain, every seed & tree.

Burning beneath hot desert plain,
Listen to the sand sighing in pain,
Hear its prayer, its gritty tears,
Pleading for rain year after many years.
