Grandpapa told me, that I should always be a lady,
Always be polite my dear, never dubious &
shady,
Keep your eyes down; never stare with look a-blazon,
Always be demure my dear, never hard brash &
brazen.
Always smell of roses & lilacs dear, a ladylike
bouquet,
Never dab those perfumes, of gaudy & harsh
nosegays,
Never show a hint, of silky lace, gauze &
titillating frills,
To tantalize the gentlemen & give the beaus
their thrills.
Laugh only gently dear, with gloved hand up to
your lips,
Never indulge in gluttony & from wine glass,
just tiny sips,
Keep out of harsh sunlight & maintain your
corn-silk cheek,
With just a hint of rose my dear, to stop you
looking bleak.
Remember you´re a Lady dear, in your bearing &
in name,
Do not ever bring upon yourself, embarrassment
& shame,
And being harsh & vulgar dear, will never-ever,
folk amuse,
But most importantly of all my dear, remember
your P´s & Q´s.
