Where have all the mealtimes gone?
Gone to those fast-foods every one,
To microwaves & fast grabbed snacks,
To those tins, cans & tight plastic packs.
Where´s the cloth, china & well laid table?
Where are the knives, forks, tureen & ladle?
Where is the napkin in ring & sparkling glass?
All gone in times, now lost, in family´s pasts.
What happened to washed hands before we dine?
Clean garb, milk for children & for the adults,
wine,
Where are those folded hands, in thankful grace?
And those smiles wreathed, in every hungry face.
What´s happened to the mouth-watering smells?
And the tales around the table, that each one
tells,
Conversations within the family & the get-togethers,
All flown away now, upon modernity´s sad feathers.
