AFRICAN SILENCES:

Silence, non-existent, within African lands,

Drums, laughter, roaring, the clapping of hands,

Singing of happy voices & of dancing dust feet,

The snorting & grunting, of beasts in the heat.

There´s no silence in Africa, not in one single thing,

Wings flapping, jaws snapping, bird beak that sings,

Maws munching, bones cracking, rumbling of guts,

Click, clack & crunching of pincers, pods & dry nuts.

Within the stillness of Africa, one hears ancient sounds,

Old dust weeping tears, on dunes & sandy soft mounds,

Shadow whispered secrets, in quiet velvet dark nights,

Within the silence of Africa, old dreams take their flight.
