With cool demeanour,
soft hand & very warm heart,
Proficient with care
& healing touch, softly to impart,
A pill, some lotion,
a tuck-in & soft plumped-up pillow,
Window opened, curtain
drawn, healing breezes billow.
A sweet smile &
a cool touch, to heated & fevered brow,
Kind words to sick
kiddies & to the aged, “Settle down now”,
Starched uniform, marching
with brusque & urgent bustle,
Instilling compassion,
with the buzz of all important hustle.
Wending her way around
the misery & deaths of many folk,
Sympathetic words for
all bereaved, for the sad, a funny joke,
Nurse first & foremost,
then human being & to many, a saint,
Whether it be serious,
cut, scratches, or merely just a faint.
