The spirit said, “come away
& play”, to the poor man,
“No” said he, “my energy ran
away with my empty pan,”
The spirit then asked the
rich man to come away & play,
“No” said he, “no time, I
have too much to do today.”
The spirit said “come away
& play,” to the woman at work,
“No” said she, “there are
chores to do & I must not shirk,”
The spirit then asked the
little child to come away & play,
“Yes” said the child, “let´s
go now, right away, yippee-yay.”
The spirit took the child´s
little hand & away & off they ran,
The poor man followed &
for it, he felt a much richer man,
The rich man left all his
dealings & then followed them all,
The woman laughed, lifted
her skirts & ran through the hall.
The spirit held hands with
them & they all danced that day,
They all learned how to sing
& they learned how to play,
They all left their problems
behind & their lives became fine,
Just because, to play, they
had all found that precious time.
