Remember those times?
When we were dewy skinned
& bright eyed,
You, a handsome groom
& I a blushing bride,
Oh those illusions,
for all our future dreams,
When all was roses,
strawberries & cream.
Remember those times?
When we got complacent
& interest mislaid,
Forgotten words of
love & feeling betrayed,
Dreams dissipating,
in the boring day to day,
When we forgot, the
vows of our wedding day.
Remember those times?
When our babies were
born & were so desired,
We loved tight as a
pine-cone, even when tired,
A family united, always
there helping each other,
When all was perfect,
us, babies, father & mother.
Remember those times?
When at times, dishes
with words, in ire were hurled,
Babes left us, we aged,
what happened to our world?
Tears flowing down
cheeks, in such copious streams,
When down life´s drains
flowed, our unlived dreams.
Remember those times?
When the silver-streaked
hair & the wrinkles arrived,
And we realized that,
through it all, we had survived,
In youth & health,
in illness & age, you hold my hand,
Recall, when upon my finger, you placed this gold
band?
