He´d lived in his
village, from his very first day,
Determined since
his birth, he was going to stay,
He worked the
land & he went without school,
He was taught by
the earth & was nobody´s fool.
His village
stayed quaint, but didn´t stay the same,
Cobbled &
lost in time, then the tourists all came,
They laughed at
his clothes & his funny wood shoes,
Then went back to
their sunning & eternal cold booze.
He watched from a
distance at the new & the strange,
And in his
memory´s eye, saw the passing of change,
Remembering way
back, when he had vowed to stay,
Now, shaking his
grey old head, he just walked away.
