I gave you life &
brought you through birth,
I gave you love &
nurtured you upon earth.
I gave you my heart
& then very deep roots,
I gave you sustenance
& fed you ripe fruits.
You crawled, you walked,
you ran & you grew,
Until the day came
& you spread wings & flew,
And upon your wings
you carried away my soul,
To travel with you
until the day you grow old.
