THE CHAMBERMAID:

My life is, yes Sir, no Sir, anything you want Sir,
Oh dear, windows need a clean, all quite a blur,
Dusting, bending, stretching, every day cleaning,
Mopping & on knees, until everything is gleaming.

Linen stripped & laundered & on the line it billows,
Mini bar is stocked & a chocolate upon your pillows,
Bathroom is shining & shoes polished & daily buffed,
The cushions on your sofa are fluffed & daily puffed.

Room service on a tray & served up upon your whim,
Fresh flowers in a vase, arranged & neatly trimmed,
Carpets vacuumed, beds made & towels daily changed,
All neat & tidy, same routine daily, every day arranged.

Surely you won´t begrudge if I snoop in all your things,
Trying on your hats, your jackets, dresses & your rings,
Sneaking the quiet cigarette & reading all your news,
While I sit upon your bed & my feet within your shoes.

A grape from your free fruit bowl, a sneaky little drink,
Nobody knows, all in secret & before a soul can blink,
Entering in your room, all´s clean & bed is freshly made,
No one´s any wiser, to secrets of the simple chambermaid.
