Carrots, squash
& pumpkin glistening gold,
Ruby tomatoes,
peppers & beetroot bold,
Diamond
transparency, of onions glinting,
Jewel box soup,
without richness stinting,
Potatoes,
parsnips, turnips & creamy swede,
Celery, leeks,
courgettes to rich palates feed,
Beans, green,
red, black & pearl barley white,
Hot bubbling in
cauldron, within crystal light,
Pinch of ocean´s
salt & black pepper cracked,
Spitting & dripping
onto stove well blacked,
Stirred & watched
with love & slowly boiling,
Herbs & spices melding quietly & gently
toiling,
Dished & served
in bowls of aromatic steam,
With warm crusty
loaf & mushroomed cream,
Jewel box soup, of
green garden´s earthly gems,
Of vegetable ingots,
leaves & sap filled stems,
Warming cockles of
hearts on winter´s icy nights,
When Jack Frost calls
& cold toes & fingers bites.
