Mama said, I was as dull as
ditch-water,
Not the sort she wanted for
a daughter,
Papa said, “In looks, she
is so very plain,”
Not the beauty wanted to carry
his name.
Teacher said, I was as thick
as two planks,
Not made of material, to reach
high ranks,
Friends said I was boring
& away with fairies,
All said being in my company,
was rather scary.
But I knew who I was, in my
head, heart & soul,
By the world so accused, but
to me, I was whole,
The dancing in my heart &
the singing in my head,
Took me to the land, where
it was I, who really led.
