DISTANT MEMORIES:

I remember my Grand-mama´s lilac perfume,

And my Grandpa´s banjo, strumming sweet tune,

I remember my Mama & her gentle soft hand,

And my dear Papa, I recall, once toiling the land,

I remember too, the man who made me his wife,

And the child I once birthed, who gave me new life,

I remember them all, with great love & affection,

Yet looking at life, through hazy mirrored reflection,

Past the distant horizons, of my lost memory´s sea,

The only one I don´t recall, is the person called me.

REINCARNATED:

I remember when I was a weed & you were a rose,

We shared the same field, where we were reposed,

I remember when I was the hunter & you the deer,

Sharing the same sad pain & the same innate fear.

Remember when we were wolves, & together we´d howl?

Then we came back as lions, & we´d go on night prowl,

Do you remember, as birds, we´d share the same sky?

And once upon a time, as butterflies, together we´d fly.

I remember, in past lives, we´ve been always together,

As parent & child, insects, beasts & as birds of a feather,

We´re destiny´s children, together, ever reincarnated,

Always together, in our past & in future, as life has fated.

ALCHEMY OF GIFTS:

If I offer you a promise, will you turn it to a song?

If I gift you an oath, will you guard it all life long?

If I swear you a vow, will you write it in a story?

If I give you my word, will you paint it in its glory?

If I sing you my loving, will you scribe it in poems?

If I whisper you wishes, will you bury them in tomes?

If I sigh you deepest secrets, will you tell me no lie?

If I offer you my memories, will you keep them alive?

If I present you the tools, of the Alchemist´s schemes,

If I give you my all, darling, will you turn it to dreams?

BUT:

You´re as prickly as a gorse bush to my tender touch,

At times, you´re as hard as nails & hurt just as much,

You´re as stony as shore´s shingle, to my dainty tread,

Is it so difficult to see, why you mess with my head?

You´re thorny as a barb, drawing blood from my fingers,

Yet what I feel for you, merely sits, & quietly lingers,

You´re as rocky as high Tor, & just as difficult to climb,

As sharp upon soft tongue, as the acidity of cold lime,

You´re the bumpiest ride, that I´ve ever dared hitch,

But I´ve always loved you, & you have me bewitched.

THE SINGING SEASON:

God bless the singing season,

Of all operas, arias & whispering old sands,

Of Habaneras & Fados, from far distant lands,

Of Flamenco & melodies, of soft African voices,

God bless all the singing, whatever their choices.

God bless the singing season,

The chantings, the chords & tongues at their choirs,

The notes of sweet birds, upon all tree tops & spires,

The echoings of all beasts & sad briny blue whales,

God bless all the singing, whatever their wails.

God bless the singing season,

From lungs of babies, to their cooing sweet mothers,

From hearts of sweethearts, to their ardent hot lovers,

From the long dead & buried, calling out our names,

God bless all the singing, whatever their games.
