EYES OF DESERT SOLITUDE:

Sun baked sands,
Blue endless skies,
Do I see in Bedouin eyes?
Colours of gold sweep your past,
Just as sands breathe so fast,
To cover trace of man.

The night is there,
So deep, so black, so wide,
A blanket under which no man can hide,
Where whispered breeze sighs of spice,
Days of fire, nights of ice,
Where the soul of man is laid so bare.

Twinkling lights of diamond stars,
Venus, Jupiter & distant Mars,
Or is it happiness that shines,
Knowing you are free,
Roaming secret desert lands,
Over hot, cruel unforgiving sands?

I NEED A FRIEND:

Today amongst my blue I need a friend,
Not an easy thing to find,
Someone, on whom I can depend,
Who when I weep will not mind,
Not an easy thing to find.

A husband could never understand,
Father long gone, brother too far away,
Friends too busy to lend a hand,
Kids too eager to run & play,
Mother would say; “child, kneel & pray”.

Today amongst my blue I need a friend,
Not an easy thing to find,
I´ve asked God, but he has no ear to lend,
The word friend is deaf & so blind,
Not an easy thing to find.

BENJI:

Benjamin, behind closed blistered lid you weep,
Not for dying, that doesn’t hurt,
But for inevitable sleep,
A sleep that when arrives you cannot reverse,
To change the world, your world, you now cannot,
Desires will travel with you in the hearse,
Whispered sighs convulse your soul,
The pointless reasons for it all, for not at all,
Listen Mama Moloise, Africa´s bell tolls,
Every Picinnini clad in dust´s apartheid hues,
Shall go with you Benji to hidden ecstasy,
Where no colour is permitted to air his views,
White doves among the grey, peeping at the sun who is ashamed,
To bestow upon this evil land an element called light,
Where the human soul is violated, raped & sorely maimed,
Cry Benjamin, cry Africa, cry all,
For the liberty of the human brain,
Demolish with strangled tears this bitter wall, Satan´s gall,
You die for a cause, a certain reason,
You should laugh, & indeed I see you smile,
Once free Benji, they cannot call you treason,
They cannot call you kaffir,
They cannot call you at all.

THE SPIDER:

THE SPIDER:   SHE SPINS HER WEB TO PROTECT HER YOUNG,
SHE WEAVES & TURNS TO SNARE HER PREY,
SHE WRAPS HER LIFE IN SILKEN GOWN,
SHE DISAPPEARS IN MORNING MISTS.

BLAH, BLAH, BLAH:

Everyone I know is writing a book,
Everyone I meet is a budding poet,
We all do blogs, twitter & face book,
And we make sure that everyone will know it.

We tell of our loves, the good & the failed,
We divulge secrets to strangers unknown,
We await the messages & hoped to be mailed,
We cannot stand the thought of not being known.

We click “LIKE” & leave comments galore,
Never a negative word do we leave,
Telling unseen faces that we want to see more,
The appreciation society we´ll always believe.

All those words, poems & stories are fine,
But do we write just for fun & not the fame?
Among all posted words, I admit, some are mine,
But when I leave this earth, who the hell will remember my name?
