Where was I in your final push, when I came into your world?
When the doctor said, “Congratulations, a healthy little
girl,”
Where was I whilst I grew up, to be clever, pretty &
strong?
Whilst I was taught the difference of what was right &
wrong,
Where was I when we said “I do” & promised our sacred
vows?
When we made love, our bodies & souls were achingly
aroused,
Where was I as a young mother, when my sweet babies came?
When the first one grew up & then we repeated it once
again,
Where was I whilst I grew grey & then suddenly I became
older?
When timidity flew, shame disappeared & I grew steadily
bolder,
Where was I when the living I knew stopped & suddenly
ended?
When I prayed & pleaded on old knees, creased &
sorely bended,
Where was I when the world I knew stopped silently &
softly died?
When I decided to say goodbye to all, to leave & quietly
step aside.
